DEEP REST AND RELAXATION
Uniting classical forms from East
and West is nothing new. For hundreds of years the combined forces of culture and commerce
have worked to melt borders and compress distances, and in this new millenium we can only
expect this trend to con tinue. Yet to combine the relaxation of the body via the
tradition of Yoga and an awakened state of the mind through Mozart is something new.
Research has shown that the brilliant clarity and well-organized forms of Mozart's music
yield improvements is spatial perception, physical balance and time/space orientation.
Many experienced yoga teachers and students would say these are also primary goals of Yoga
practice, and studies will confirm Yoga's effectiveness in these and other areas.
Alignement of the body and clear focus (or awareness) in the mind are interrelated
objectives and a likely outcome of both Mozart and Yoga, making these two perfect partners
in the pursuit of mind/body health and wellness.
On this album you will be enjoying many of Mozart's slower movements - all chosen to
facilitate Yoga's focus on deep and thorough breathing. While music often precipitates a
change in the rhythm of the listener's breathing, here, in Yoga practice (or in meditation
and relaxation), we take adavantage of that tendancy more deliberately.
So stretch, breathe, center and listen deeply. Bring your mind and body into mental,
physical and spiritual alignement. Let the union of Yoga and Mozart bring you the best of
both mind and body.
Morning, Noon and Night
This album is unique in that each of its three segments is designed with a completely
different mood or character in mind - symbolized by the times of the day
"Morning", "Noon" and "Night". These sections can be used as
individual segments during the appropriate times of the day, or combined with others as a
part of a naturally evolving forty or sixty minutes session. When used for meditation,
relaxation, to accompany message or bodywork, etc., the same guidelines apply: use a
single segment which captures your desired state, or combine (or repeat) segments to
create a longer program.
To begin a Yoga session, start by stretching for a few minutes. Then sit in a relaxed
position. Next begin "Pranayana" breathing, and allow the Mozart's music to
bring an awakened balance to you mind and body. Finally, begin your routine of asanas, or
postures, as Mozart assists you in this integrated form of Yoga practice. |
