Surgi apparemment de nulle part, annoncé seulement par le lointain hurlement des loups et un dramatique craquement de tonnerre, le Chaman apparaît. La danse de sa divine destinée commence, lente au début lorsque seul un tambour le guide sur l'antique chemin, un mouvement instinctif sorti des profondeurs de la source mystique de l'intuition. Déjà le rythme s'accélère et les tambours augmentent d'intensité, le chamane est emporté par sa transe. Phil Thornton rend ainsi hommage aux pouvoirs de ces mystérieux "hommes médecine". Dans le cercle de sons tournoient les cloches, carillons, flûtes et la basse résonance du didgeridoo; le rituel monte vers une sorte de frénésie spirituelle où des sons animaux évoquent l'union du chamane avec le monde naturel. Tels les membres d'une tribu, nous sommes aussi pris par le pouvoir cette musique hypnotique, jusque dans unespace de conscience élargie. Seemingly from nowhere, heralded only by the distant howling of wolves and a dramatic crack of thunder, the Shaman appears. In a moment his dance of divine destiny is begun, slowly at first as a single drum helps him pick out the path of ancient footsteps, an instintive movement drawn deep from the mystical well of intuition. Soon the rythm swells as drumbeat deepens in intensity and the medicine man is lost in trance. The circle of sound is soon swirling with bells, chimes, pipes ant the background resonance of the didgeridoo as the ritual climbs to a spiritual frenzy where animal sounds signify the Shaman's union with the natural world. Like members of the tribal audience, framed by the flickering flames of night, we too are drawn by the hypnotic power of the music into an emphatic awareness of our extra-sensory potential. In this, Phil Thornton's homage to the arcane powers of these mysterious priests.
