| Le cycle
solaire a toujours eu un effet important sur l'humanité depuis le premier moment de
conscience. La chasse et plus tard les fêtes agraires étaient approximativerment
organisées d'après les solstices et les équinoxes. Alors que la signification
spirituelle de ces moments était d'une importance évidente, d'autres festivals, tels les
"Fêtes de Feu" à SAMHAIN et BELTANE, auraien concerné surtout la survie de
l'homme, de la terre, des céréales et des animaux. Des sons celtiques traditionnels se mélangent avec la résonance profonde de la guitare E-bow, de la guitare basse, des claviers et des rythmes contagieux. Cet album universel capture le sens du rituel et du mystère des anciennes célébrations. Les arrangements musicaux suscitent les images des rituels mystiques: le morceau "Samhain" commence avec trois notes puissantes évoquant l'image d'un druide sonnant de la trompe magique, "Beltane" marque le retour des puissants festivals du feu, et "Green Man" libére l'esprit de l'été. De la même manière que le soleil le jour du solstice à l'aube efface les ombres par sa lumière, la musique de Phil Thornton illumine l'esprit et réjouit l'auditeur par sa magie. |

| The
sun’s cycle has had a profound effect on humanity since the first moment of
awareness. Hunter gatherer activity, and later Agrarian festivals / seasons, were roughly
divided by the solstice and equinox events. Whilst the higher spiritually of these moments
were of obvious importance, other festivals, including the "fire festivals" at
SAMHAIN and BELTANE would have been concerned with human survival, the earth, its crops
and its animals. Traditional Celtic sounds are infused with the deeper resonance of E-bow guitar, fretless bass, keyboards and infectious rhythms. Capturing the sense of ritual and mystery of the ancient celebrations that mark the turning of time, this album has a universal appeal. Throughout the recording the arrangements echo images of there mystic rituals, the track Samhain starts with three powerful notes evoking the image of a druid sounding the magical horn, Beltane marks the return of the power of the fire festival, as the Green Man releases the spirit of summer. Just as the sun on the dawn of the solstice gives light to the shadows, Phil Thornton’s music brightens the spirit and empowers the listener with its magic. |
